Strawberry FAQs
Peak strawberry season in the US and UK is early summer, with June often being the best time to pick fresh strawberries.
Strawberries should be stored in the refrigerator and used up quickly. Remove any blemished fruit before storing and only wash just before eating.
Yes, freezing strawberries is an excellent way to enjoy their taste all year round.
To freeze strawberries, wash them and then pat dry. Remove the stalks and cut if desired, or leave them whole. Spread out in a single layer on a tray lined with parchment paper or a silicone liner, and freeze until solid. When frozen, transfer the fruit to an airtight container such as a freezer bag and store for up to 6 months.
Because the freezing process makes them less firm when defrosted, frozen strawberries are best used in recipes that cook or blend them, such as cobblers, smoothies and preserves.
